Bec Talia
Naturopath, Herbalist and Nutritionist
My interest in digestive health and food intolerances grew out of my own experience. I have long experienced health issues and fatigue, and things only got worse after the birth of my son. As an adult I was finally diagnosed with low thyroid function and an autoimmune condition, exacerbated by “leaky gut".
I now have to avoid eating gluten, and this has been a huge challenge. A gluten-free diet doesn’t fit easily with traditional Italian family gatherings! I had no idea what to eat for breakfast, couldn’t find suitable food in the supermarket, and hated having to cook separate meals for my family.
This is why, in my clinical practice, I go out of my way to provide support beyond identifying the underlying cause, including providing recipes, education about how to identify problem ingredients when shopping, and find ways to bulk out the diet while eliminating certain foods.
I take a very evidenced-based approach to my recommendations, and this is supported by over 20 years’ experience in the industry. I hold a Bachelor of Health Science (Complimentary Medicine) and an Adv Dip. Health (Naturopathy), along with further qualifications in nutrition and herbal medicine (Dip. Health Nutrition, Dip. Health. Herbal Medicine). In addition to clinical practice, I have also worked in the health food industry, and am engaged to provide training to pharmacy assistants Australia wide, along with other health professionals and the general public.
